Overview In celebration of the State Guest House’s 50th anniversary, we welcomed all guests with flower arrangements and bonsai trees as we did when the State Guest House first opened to the public on April 11, 1974.
We would like to extend our thanks the more than 7,000 people who came to the museum during the exhibition. We sincerely thank you all.

〇Main Building Small Hall: Floral Decorations

The Small Hall in the main building is where flowers for hospitality are displayed for distinguished guests during their reception. In commemoration of the State Guest House’s 50th anniversary, this is the first time we have prepared flowers for hospitality for our visitors.
The neo-baroque style Western-style palace architecture, marble, gold leaf, and gorgeous interior, the magnificent large space with a deep red carpet, and elegant and graceful flowers based on the concept of Japanese beauty all resonated with each other to create a breathtaking flower arrangement that adorn the history of the building.

〈Flowers Used〉Roses, peonies, cherry blossoms, Japanese snowball, viburnum, azaleas, camellias, and lily of the valley.

〇Japanese Style Annex “Yushintei” Toritsugi no Ma: Floral Decorations

The Toritsugi no Ma in “Yushintei” is the first room that greets you when you enter. Our 50th anniversary is celebrated together with “Hana no Ga,” a celebration of longevity at the time flowers start to bloom in spring. As such, we decorated the room with colorful spring flowers, mainly cherry blossoms the national flower of Japan.
Encounters with people and flowers are once-in-a-lifetime moments. We created these flower arrangements with the hope that you will cherish the moment, create a lasting memory, and feel a sense of tranquility.

〈Flowers Used〉Cherry blossoms, cherry trees in leaf, peonies, cymbidiums, eustoma, and birds of paradise.

〇Main Building Large Hall: Bonsai

The bonsai on display here are “black pines.” The black pine tree on the top left is 150 years old and the one on the top right is 110 years old. This type of tree with a varied form, such as a trunk that curves from side to side, is called a pattern tree, and many bonsai often have this form. The bonsai are cultivated so the tip and base of the tree are connected in a straight line, even if the trunk is curved.
The bonsai trees are usually displayed near the terrace entrance of the Japanese Style Annex, but many people have commented that it is more impactful when displayed in the main building.

〇Front gates: Floral Decorations

We adorned the front of the main gate, the face of the State Guest House, with flowers. We used the same anniversary flower arrangements from the Small Hall of the main building for visitors only coming for the gardens to also enjoy.
It was a special weekend to send off all of our visitors with flowers.

〈Flowers Used〉Roses, peonies, cherry blossoms, Japanese snowball, viburnum, azalea, camellia, and lily of the valley
