Special Event Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Kyoto State Guest House – Vol.2

Kyoto State Guest House marked the 20th anniversary of its establishment on April 17, 2025. To celebrate this milestone, we are pleased to offer a series of special events highlighting Japanese cultural experiences.
The second event in the series will take place on August 7, 2025, featuring a live koto performance by NODA Yuki of the Ikuta School of koto music in Fuji-no-Ma, the largest room at Kyoto State Guest House. This event includes a guided tour with special access to Suimei-no-Ma, a room usually closed to the public.
We invite you to join us for this memorable occasion and take part in this exclusive experience.
Please note that all guidance during the event will be provided in Japanese only.

  Morning Session:
   Check-in at 9:25 AM / Starts at 10:00 AM / Ends at 12:10 PM
  Afternoon Session:
   Check-in at 1:25 PM / Starts at 2:00 PM / Ends at 4:10 PM

Highlights
  • Exclusive entry through the Main Gate on foot, the same route taken by state guests
  • Warm welcome with traditional incense and ikebana floral arrangements
  • Exhibitions of original design paintings and prototypes of the wall tapestries
    Yubae-no-Ma: Original design paintings of the wall tapestries
    Fuji-no-Ma: Original design painting and prototypes of the wall tapestry
    Kiri-no-Ma: Furnishings used by state guests during official visits
  • Live koto performance by NODA Yuki of the Ikuta School on the stage in Fuji-no-Ma
    *Guidance will be provided in Japanese only.
  • Special access to Suimei-no-Ma, usually not open to the public
  • Open-air tea ceremony display in the garden (canceled in case of rain)

    160 participants (80 per session)

    Admission Fees
    This special event is available at the regular guided tour admission fee.
    Adults:2,000 yen, University Students:1,500 yen, Middle/High School Students (Ages 13+):700 yen

    Children aged 12 or younger will not be admitted.
    Students must present a valid ID on the day of their visit to receive the student discount.


    How to Apply
    Applications will be accepted on our website starting at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25. Participants will be selected through a random drawing.
    Application Period:Wednesday, June 25, 2025, 11:00 AM – Wednesday, July 9, 2025, 11:00 PM
    Notification of Results:Emails with the drawing results will be sent to all applicants starting at 8:00 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

    If all spots are not filled through the drawing, online reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
