Public Opening of the Kyoto State Guest House

About Kyoto State Guest House that serves the foreign dignitaries with "OMOTENASHI ~ the essence of Japanese hospitality~"

The Kyoto State Guest House opened in April 2005 as a national reception facility to receive foreign dignitaries invited to visit Japan as official guests of the Japanese government, which role it continues to fulfill. It was built in a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese architecture and interior design and offers the guests the opportunity to experience the long history and the refined and varied culture of Kyoto.

IMPORTANT:
The public opening of the Kyoto State Guest House is carried out throughout the year except the foreign dignitaries' visits.
In case of the sudden scheduling of the foreign dignitaries' visit or other operational reasons, the public opening is subject to cancellation. Please be advised to come here after checking with the following "Future public opening schedule" whether the date of your visit is open or not.

Attention! Because of the traffic control due to the Kyoto Marathon 2018 held on 18 (Sun) February, the street between Kawaramachi-Imadegawa and Kawaramachi-Oike is closed to vehicular traffic, including public transportation from 8:00 to 16:30. Hence, you cannot get off at the nearest bus stop "Furitsu-Idai-Byoin-Mae". While traffic control is restricted, large-scale traffic jam will be expected throughout Kyoto city.
For all visitors, including those coming here by car or chartered bus, please be advised to leave with a margin in time to arrive here. You may not participate in the visit in case you will be late for the meeting time.

The public opening schedule from 13 (Sat) January to 5 (Mon) February and from 11 (Sun) to 22 (Thu) February 2018 has been fixed.
Notes:
5 (Mon) February: Open only from 10:00 to 13:00 (Last admission: 11:15, for English guided tour: 11:30)
11 (Sun) February: Open only from 12:00 to 17:00 (Last admission: 15:30)
The result of the advance applications has been sent via email.
★ The additional application is made on first-come-first-served basis only for the time slots in which the application capacity does not reach the fixed number.

Maximum 8 tickets can be issued per person for the Guided tours held from 13 (Sat) January, 2018.
8 November 2017
The online application system has been renewed. Due to this renewal, the URL of some pages has been changed.
3 August 2017
Maximum 19 tickets can be issued per person for the Self-guided tours.
11 July 2017
From 27 (The) July onwards, the once-a-day English guided tour will be available at noon also for the period of the Self-guided tours.

This is the Self-guided tour where the visitors look around each room open to the public along the route on their own.
The future schedule for the Self-guided tours is not planned at the moment. It will be announced sequentially as soon as fixed.
